Ruby Reed Ruby Reed, 87 of Clay City died March 19, 2008 at 12:45 pm at the Clay County Health Care Center.
She was born March 2, 1921 in LaFollette, Tennessee the daughter of Sylvester Lay and Lucy Lay Grant.
August 16, 1948 she married Carl K. Reed. He preceded her in death November 6, 1990.
Ruby was a nursing assistant at several nursing homes in Clay County and in Jasonville. She enjoyed being a homemaker.
She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and Martz Community Church and last attended Abundant Life Church of Christ in Clay City.
She enjoyed playing the piano and the organ. When she could, Ruby enjoyed traveling and shopping with friends and family.
Survivors include her children, James T. Reed of South Bend, Luella J. Hubbell of Tennessee, Stephanie Brown and husband Tim of Clay City, Linda S. Kilgore and husband Paul of Elwood, IN;daughter-in-law, Debbie Reed of Saline City; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl Reed; two sons, Stephen and William C. Reed; and one brother Millard R. Lay.
Funeral Information
Services will be held at 2:00pm Saturday at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sink Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 12-2pm.
Donations Information
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Vista Care Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
