Norman "Bill" Green

February 13, 1925 - September 01, 2010

Norman “Bill” P. Green Sr., loving, husband, father and grandfather, 85, of Brazil, passed away at home September 1, 2010 with his family by his side.

He was born February 13, 1925 in West Terre Haute, IN the son of Vernon and Edna (Blunk) Green. He graduated from Concannon High School and later attended UCLA through correspondence.

Following high school he joined the United States Army where he served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. Mr. Green served under General Patton in Germany during WWII where he received a purple heart for battle field injuries. He returned to combat during the Korean Conflict where he received two additional purple hearts again for injuries sustained in battle. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sergeant from the Army in 1953 after serving for 13 years.

He lived in Vigo County for several years. While there he worked for General Tire, Max Nicoson Sonoco and Atterson Tire as an alignment specialist. He retired at the age of 63.

In his retirement he spent much of his time with family, working cross word puzzles, and watching T.V..

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Norman Green Jr. 1 brother and 3 sisters.

He is survived by his wife Savanna Jane Green; daughters Cindy Pugh and companion Daniel Frazier and Linda White and husband Nolan; grandsons: Joseph Burton II and wife Christina, Ryan Pugh, Gary “J.R.” Couch Jr. and wife Nikki; and Joe White; granddaughters; Jade Green, Tracey Rubenacci and husband Victor and Kim and Candie; great grandchildren: Anthony Burton, Iris, Paige, Cole, Anthony and Aiden; great great grandchildren: Trevor and Gary III “Trey”; brothers: James Green and wife Lucille and Vernon “V.G.” Green and wife Chris; sisters: Janet Downey and husband Robert and Mary Gadberry.

Funeral Information

Services will be at French Funeral Home Monday, September 6, 2010 at 11:00am with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Military services will be provided by the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the United States Army. Visitation will be at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8pm. Cremation services will be provided per his request.
