BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT GROUPS
For anyone, regardless of where you are in your own grief journey, meeting the first Monday of each month 10:00-11:30am at Grace Chapel, 2104 W US Hwy 40, Brazil. For Parents who have lost a child meet the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month 7:00-8:30pm at Grace Chapel, 2104 W US Hwy 40, Brazil. Roy Evans, Jr.
Roy Evans, Jr. 85 of Brazil died December 27, 2010 at 3:35am at the Exceptional Living Center. He had been a resident of Bethesda Gardens from 2003- July of 2010.
He was born February 13, 1925 in Brazil the son of Roy Evans and Ruth Springer Evans.
He graduated from Brazil High School, Class of 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He began working for AT&T following the war. He attended one year at Purdue University and resumed his job at AT&T as a facilities engineer. He served the company primarily in the Atlanta, GA area, but also worked in New Jersey. He came back to the Brazil area due to health issues in 2003.
Roy enjoyed fishing and watching football and basketball on TV. He was a member of the North Metro Baptist Church in Lawrence, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Nelson Evans and Gerald Evans and two sisters, Mary Belle Evans and Margaret Evans Deal.
Survivors include his brother Richard Evans and wife Pat of Brazil; brother Phil Evans of Naples, FL; two sisters Josephine Shuck of Brownsburg and Norma Childress of Lowell, IN; one sister in law, Betty Evans of Brazil; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:00pm at French Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 11-1pm.
Memorial donations may be made in his memory to Vista Care Hospice.
