Nina M. Horn, 74, of Clay City, passed away at Southwood Health and Rehabilitation Tuesday, August 24, 2010. She had been battling cancer for 2 years.

She was born to Herbert A. and Alta Gertrude (Fiscus) Stantz on January 2, 1936 in Owen County. She graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1955.

She retired from RCA after 39 1/2 years service. She also worked at the meat Processing Plant in Clay City. She was an avid euchre player and bingo player. She loved the outdoors from sports to coon hunting. She also loved to square dance.

She was a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church, Eel River Coon Hunters Association, Indiana Coon Hunters Association, Brazil Coon Hound Field Trial Association, Coal City Fall Festival, Saline City Labor Day Picnic Association, Coal City Alumni and the Senior Citizens Organization.

She was very dedicated to collecting donations for Riley Children’s Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Wayne Horn, in October 2003, second husband Ed Walden in June 2010; parents, one sister Imogene Newport and two brothers, Wilbur and Fred Stantz.

She is survived by a son Gary Horn and wife Kim; daughter Brenda Carlin and husband Bill; two grandsons: Brett and Nathan Horn; two great grandsons: Logan Horn and Hunter Craig; several step grandchildren, in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Information

Services will be held at noon on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Schoppenhorst Funeral Home with Pastor David Clapp officiating. Burial will follow at Fiscus Cemetery in Coal City. Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 10am until time of services.
