Dorman "Bud" MillerJune 29, 1928 - March 11, 2010
Dorman “Bud” Miller, 81 of Brazil died March 11, 2010 at Union Hospital. He was born June 29, 1928 in Clay County the son of August Benjamin Miller and Gertrude Turpin Miller. He graduated from Brazil High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948. It was in the Army that Bud learned the skill of surveying. In 1950 he began working at the courthouse with the county survey office. In 1960 Bud ran for the county surveyor position on the Democrat Ticket and won. He served as surveyor from 1960-1996. Bud was a member of the American Legion Post #2; life member of the VFW #1127; member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #274 and served as secretary from 1954-1997. He was also a life member of the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors, Inc. He was baptized in the Good Tidings Tabernacle in Brazil. In retirement he has enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears, the Colts and IU Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Everett Ray Miller; two brother in laws, Kenneth Maurey and Clyde Miller. Survivors include his wife Margaret Miller of Brazil; son David Miller (Janie) of Brazil and daughter Rhonda Sotto (Rene’) of AZ; 7 grandchildren, Alyssia Miller, Megan Miller, Dana Haviland, Jerry Dale Hull, Kyle Yocom, Kurtis Yocom, and Giancarlo Sotto; 4 great-grandchildren, Damian Haviland; Lexi Haviland, Gabriel Haviland and Bradyn Hull; one brother Robert Miller (Roseanne) of Carbon; two sisters Betty Maurey and Shirley Miller of Brazil; one sister in law Kay Miller; several nieces and nephews and extended family. Funeral InformationServices will be held Monday at 1:00pm at Lawson-Miller Chapel with burial to follow at Summit Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4-8 with military walk through at 6:00PM. Donations Information
