Hazel York

Hazel York, 89, formerly of Wixom and Lake City, MI and currently living in Bowling Green, IN, passed away at 1:50PM, December 4, 2008 at St. Vincent Clay Hospital.

She was born February 24, 1919 in Hazel-Dell, IL to Claude and Ruth (Sharp) Lansbery. She married Ray Howard York July 4, 1941; he preceded her in death. Hazel worked as a receptionist for Doctors Earl and Harold Book in Milford, Michigan. In her younger years she played softball a traveling team for the Heath Candy Bar Company, in Robinson, IL. She enjoyed singing, writing songs and poetry about her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and reading and memorizing the Bible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray York; sisters: Wanda Potter and Juanita Hulen and a brother Max Lansbery.
She is survived by two daughters Judy Randall and husband John of Bowling Green IN and Susan Craig and husband Bill of Wixom MI; grandchildren: John Randall Jr. of Speedway, IN, Karen Bellville and husband Christopher of Bowling Green, IN, Bill Craig and wife Rachael of Walled Lake, MI, Michael Craig and wife Kim of Milford, MI, Julie Craig of Wixom, MI; great- grandmother of ten; siblings: Pete Lansbery and wife Wanda of Oblong, IL and Ray Lansbery and wife Virginia of Lillian, AL as well many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Information

Services will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Monday, December 8, 2008, at 1:00 with Pastor Don Van Dyke officiating. Burial will follow at Wixom Cemetery in Wixom, MI. Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, Monday, December 8, 2008, from 11-1.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Gideon Bible Fund; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
